I was wondering how many of my dA friends do other sides bits of art other than what they post on here? Such as those who paint- do you also write? Those who photography do you also do ceramics? I think you get the idea... I know for many who are artistically minded we enjoy many various aspects of the arts. Share what else you like to do...right here.

I for one ebb and flow. Photography, writing, painting, drawing and so on. One thing I love to do when the mood hits is Japanese Kanji and immerse the characters chosen into a simple watercolor painting. My home has many abstract vibrant pieces of acrylic paintings along with my Japanese art and some of my drawings. I enjoy writing as well having several pieces published and a couple of books written.

Share with the rest of us... Id love to know what else you might do and maybe I can learn a thing or two.

A student and I talked today. He asked me why people seem to be so stuck in their past.
I said to him, "The past is there for us to learn from- not to get stuck in. Once a student has learned that 2+2=4 he remembers it and knows it is then okay to move on to 2+3=5. He has not forgotten the former equation, he has learned it and knows its time now to learn the next lesson. Learn from the past and live in the present. It will bring a peace and happiness to yourself."

The student then asked me why some people seem to be so fixated upon the future?

I said to him, "Some disregard the future altogether, living as if there were no tomorrow. Yet others dwell so much on what will come next year, next month, next week, the next day, the next hour, the next moment... that they just miss what is the largest gift to them... the present.

Life in the past, present and future all have there places. Its learning to find the balance that from our past we learn, from our future we plan... but with our present we should embrace, enjoy and relish that moment. We would all learn a greater peace, a measure of delight and a sweeter love for ourselves, our loved ones and society if we only we would."

Hard lessons to learn... easy talk... difficult to walk. I am learning.
